How Heroes Made supports TEKS, ELAR, and Texas House Bill 13 requirements

TEKS ALIGNMENT

Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) Alignment

Heroes Made lessons connect to Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) through structured reading, discussion, and writing activities. We provide TEKS references by grade band to support district documentation and instructional planning.

Across Grades 1–6, lessons reinforce TEKS-aligned expectations related to:

​

  • Reading comprehension and literary understanding

  • Oral discussion, listening, and speaking skills

  • Written response and reflection

  • Vocabulary development and language use

  • Responsible decision-making within academic and classroom contexts

​

All lessons are teacher-ready, require no additional training, and are designed for consistent classroom implementation.

ELAR  ALIGNMENT

English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) Alignment

Heroes Made integrates naturally into English Language Arts and Reading (ELAR) instruction by using age-appropriate narrative texts, guided discussion prompts, and written response activities.

Lessons support ELAR standards by:

​

  • Engaging students with grade-level texts

  • Strengthening comprehension, sequencing, and theme analysis

  • Encouraging collaborative discussion and oral language development

  • Providing written response opportunities aligned to ELAR expectations

​

This allows districts to reinforce literacy instruction while supporting positive classroom engagement.

HB 13 SUPPORT

Support for Texas House Bill 13 (HB 13)

Heroes Made supports district efforts to meet the preventative, school-climate, and student well-being priorities outlined in Texas House Bill 13.

The program functions as a Tier 1, classroom-based resource that:

​

  • Promotes positive student behavior and peer interactions

  • Reinforces responsible decision-making and communication skills

  • Supports a positive classroom and campus climate

  • Provides consistent, observable student engagement opportunities

  • Reduces staff burden through fully prepared, zero-training-required lessons

​

Heroes Made is not a clinical intervention and does not replace counseling or specialized services. It complements existing district initiatives by providing consistent, developmentally appropriate classroom instruction.
